Well in this story he does and she does. The Scoobies begin to try and unravel the mystery of the commandos with Spike’s help. What they soon find out is that the Initiative, Dr. Walsh especially, is very interested in the Slayer. Can Buffy and Spike bring down the Initiative without being caught?

Chapter 1: Mortal Enemy Mine

Spike stood on a small incline over looking the quad at UC Sunnydale. He was close enough that he could watch her, yet far enough away to be out of Slayer radar. The Bitch, as he now referred to her in his mind, was beating the crap out of some unlucky fledgy who was too stupid to know to run. They were all stupid when they were young, so sure they would be the one to take down the Slayer. Of course, he had done it twice, but then he was the Big Bad.

He had only just arrived back in good old Sunnyhell, and the one thought he had had since he had left Brazil was that he was going to kill The Bitch. It was all The Bitch’s fault. Every soddin’ thing that had happened since he first set foot in this fucking town, had been her fault; from the fuck-up during parent-teacher night at the high school, to the fucking piano she dropped on his back, to Angelus’ return. This latest insult was just too much for him to take. His Black Goddess, his Drusilla, had left him for a bloody chaos demon, said he tasted like ashes, said that she could see The Bitch floating all around him. It. Was. All. The. Bitch’s. Fault. He was going to kill The Bitch this time, good and proper, but for now he watched.

He leaned back against a tree and lit a fag, drawing in a lungful of smoke and exhaling in a rush as he watched The Bitch in action. He had to admit, if only to himself, that she was something to watch. She was driving the young vamp back with a flurry of kicks and punches, golden hair flying around her pretty face, her small body in constant motion, never giving him a chance to get a hit in. Both a trash container and a lamppost fell under the pressure of the Slayer’s fury, she was pure poetry to watch, and she was making him hard. He reached down and adjusted his growing erection, leaning forward as he did so to try to hear what she was saying. She was talking to the vampire, but he couldn’t tell what she was saying over the sounds of fists and feet meeting flesh. Suddenly she had a stake in her hand, and he watched, smirk firmly in place, as the fledging met with its pointy end.

With the sounds of battle now at an end he could clearly hear her.

Get it? Heart…burn? That’s it? That’s all I get? One lame ass vamp with no appreciation for my painstakingly thought out puns.

Spike chuckled; she must have been putting that smart-ass mouth to good use again. He watched as she tilted her head skyward.

I don’t think the forces of darkness are even trying…I mean…you could make a little effort here…

Spiked smirked down at the unsuspecting slayer as she started to walk away. “Watch your mouth little girl, you ought not tempt the fates like that.” He tossed his cigarette down, ground it out under the heel of his boot, and stepped closer to the edge of the embankment. “Because the Big Bad is…”

Spike roared as pain flooded his entire body and he whirled to see what caused the painful shock. Four humans dressed in black camo stood at the ready with tasers pointed in his direction. “Well, what have we here? G.I. Joe wanna be’s? Or is it Halloween all ready?”

They stared at him for a moment. “What? Cat got your tongues? No? Well, what are you waiting on? Come on then you bloody gits.” He made a come and get it motion with his hands.

Spike kept a wary eye as two of the men circled behind him, trying to enclose him. He kicked back at the closest one, catching him in the chest and sending him flying back into a tree. The second man tried to jolt him with the taser again, but Spike easily deflected the shock, spinning under the outstretched arm, and kicking the taser out of the commando’s hand hard enough that he heard the bone snap. The injured man screamed in agony and fell back. While he had been occupied, the third man had managed to get close enough to zap him again.

“Aarrrggg, bloody hell!” He roared, as the soldier now behind him, kicked him hard in the back of the head, forcing him onto the still armed taser. Spike lost control of his demon and his face exploded in ridges and fangs as the second jolt of electricity raced through his body and he felt the edges of his vision blur. Another jolt dropped him to his knees. As darkness was reaching out to drag him under he roared the one thing he never thought to hear himself say, “Slayer! Buffy, help me.” This last bit was barely whispered as he succumbed to the dark.

“Slayer? What’s a slayer?” The biggest of the commandos questioned, bending down over Spike’s inert form, quickly binding the hostile’s hands, securing him for transport.

“That’d be me.” Buffy quipped as she stepped out of the shadows and into the commando’s line of sight. She had been about to head back to the dorm when she had heard the sound of fighting and figured she better check it out. She stepped forward, over Spike’s body on the ground, punching the commando and forcing him away from the bleached vamp.

“Jesus!” The commando yelled as he flew back from the powerful punch, landing at the feet of his friend. “Forrest?” He snapped out.

“98.6, Sir, definitely human, I think.” Came the reply.

Buffy looked at them puzzled, “What?! Of course I’m human? What’d think? I was a vampire?”

The large man had regained his feet. “Step away from the hostile, ma’am this doesn’t concern you.”

“Oh, well, see, that’s where you’re wrong. I’m the Slayer, and this is my town. Now you guys back away from my vampire.” Buffy crouched over the unconscious blond vampire, watching warily, prepared to fight, to protect. She wasn’t really sure why she was protecting Spike she only knew that she wasn’t going to let them take him. These commandos had been seen around and various demons and vamps had disappeared. Spike wasn’t even supposed to be in town, he had promised he would take Drusilla and leave and never come back. She should be pissed. However, he was back and she wasn’t going to let these army guys take him. She owed him for helping with Angelus, and dammit, if anyone was going to stake him, it was going to be her. He was her mortal enemy. Her vampire. He. Was. Hers.

“I don’t want to hurt you, ma’am, but I will if I have to.” The commando in charge said, easing towards Buffy, taser ready.

Buffy didn’t give him a chance. She leaped up and kicked the taser from the commando’s arm, causing it to fly off into the darkness. His friends surrounded her and she ran, flipping over the big guy’s head and pulling the fight away from the unconscious vampire. Her body was a blur of movement, lashing out and striking soft human flesh, flesh that, while strong, was no match for the Slayer’s strength. They fell one by one until Buffy stood alone, surrounded by unconscious men, barely breathing hard. Looking at the downed men, she expected to feel guilt for hurting humans, but she didn’t. She only felt relief that they didn’t take Spike.

She rolled her eyes when she realized she felt concern for the bleached-wonder. It was Spike for God’s sake. Her mortal enemy. Even if he had helped her once, he was still evil. She puffed out a breath of air and stalked over to said mortal enemy.

“Wakey, wakey, Spike…” she sing-songed slapping him lightly on the cheeks. “C’mon now Fang Boy, wake up. I can’t carry you all the way home.” She slapped him harder, no response. She crouched down and looked him over. His face was burned and he had various holes in his t-shirt, still smoking. She gingerly lifted it up. Umm, nice abs, look at all that pale, creamy skin, oohhh and those tight little pink nipples. She unconsciously wet her lips with her tongue….her eyes widened when she realized where her thoughts had taken her. Stupid vampire, she roughly yanked the material out of the way. His chest was covered in bruises and burn marks from the fight. The burns were shiny and raw. She decided he would be better if he stayed unconscious; it was going to hurt like a bitch when she cleaned them. Cleaned them? Why the hell was she worrying about cleaning his burns? He’d heal them anyway.

She stood up disgusted with the warm-fuzzies she was feeling for the blond vampire. “Spike-vampire, Buffy-Slayer. Buffy slays vampires, Buffy does not care about a vampire’s boo-boos.” She huffed out another long, suffering breath and hoisted said vampire up over her shoulder in a fireman’s carry. Besides, even if she didn’t care she couldn’t leave him out her with the commandos, right?

Chapter 2: That Warm-Fuzzy Feeling: Maybe It’s Indigestion?

Buffy trudged through the night, unconscious bleach-blond vampire slung over her shoulder like a sack of potatoes. She was really glad it was so late and that no one would be seeing her. She headed for her house on Revello Drive because: a) her mom was on a buying trip, and b) because the dorms had a no guy policy. She was pretty sure that if they didn’t allow guys they definitely wouldn’t want a dead-literally-beat vampire. Plus even if her mom did come home, she liked Spike, for some reason. Buffy knew that her mom had been talking to the vampire ever since he had left Sunnydale. She never asked her mom about it and figured as long as he was in Brazil it wouldn’t be an issue. It would definitely be an issue now.

Buffy juggled her armful of vampire and got the key in the door, unlocking it. She bypassed the couch and headed straight for her room, it would be better for controlling the sunlight issue. There was no reason to save his stupid ass only to have it turn into a big pile of dust come dawn. She flopped the still unconscious Spike on to her bed with little ceremony and headed to the bathroom to get the first aid kit. She really did know that he wouldn’t catch infection from his wounds, but something compelled her to treat them anyway. Coming back into the bedroom she surveyed the vamp, trying to decide the best way to get to his many burns.

Deciding on a course of action, she sighed heavily, set the kit on the bed beside of Spike, and used both hands to rip his t-shirt from hem to neck, exposing his chest to her view once more. Despite the roughness of her actions, her hands were gentle as she begin cleaning the seeping wounds and applying a light coating of antibiotic ointment. Her hands worked automatically, used to cleaning and bandaging various wounds over her long, four-years as a slayer. As she worked, her mind wandered, remembering the first time she had seen Spike in the alleyway behind the Bronze. He had then and many times since, threatened to kill her, but here she was, with her mortal enemy lying on her bed, tending his wounds. Had she just ignored his demand for help, her Spike problem would probably be solved by now.

He really is cute.” She decided, as she continued her ministrations. She allowed her hands to caress his chest briefly before returning to her self-imposed task. “Too bad about the evil, blood-sucking fiend thing he has going.” However, that didn’t seem to matter as she found her hands sliding over him, feeling the strong muscles in his arms and chest, her fingers softly tracing over his larger, harder ones. Finished with his upper body, she took deep breath and let her hands settle at the button of his black jeans.

Do I really want to do this? Please, vampire here, he’s not going to get an infection. You don’t need to pull off his pants and check for injuries.” She scolded herself, stating all the reasons why doing this was a bad idea. The back of her fingers touched against his belly and he sucked in breath. Her eyes shot to his face, sure that she would see laser blue eyes shooting fire at her, but his eyes were still closed. “Hmm, ticklish vampire, interesting, I’ll just file that one away for later. Never know when I might need a distraction when we’re fighting.

She giggled at her thoughts, imagining herself knocking the brash vampire to the ground, straddling him and tickling him into dust. Her eyes widened at the thought of straddling, and she bit her lip nervously, looking over his body once more. “What would he feel like underneath me? Ohhh, bad Buffy, just shut up and finish your job.” With that thought firmly in mind she yanked the button opened on his jeans and released the zipper, quickly pulling his jeans down his pale legs. Her breath caught on a gasp as she realized that he was now completely nude. She slammed her eyes shut. “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God… Oh my God!” The last prayer fell from her lips, splitting the heavy silence of the room. “Just don’t look at his…she couldn’t even think it. Spike’s naked, in my bed!” The thought refused to leave her mind and she opened her eyes, unable not to look at the hot male body lying exposed in her bed, her hands were fisted in her lap with the effort not to touch him.

She gasped for breath again as she realized that his body had responded in the time that she had her eyes closed. His cock was long and hard and she jerked her eyes from it to his face, where his shockingly blue eyes stared straight at her, his lips curling up in his trademark smirk, tongue tucked firmly behind teeth. Her face flamed at the knowledge that he had caught her…what? Taking his clothes off? Staring? Drooling?

“So, luv, like what you see?”

She jumped up off the bed and turned her back on him. “No, no, didn’t like what I sa….ummm….I didn’t see anything.” She stuttered, "Why, oh, why couldn’t an apocalypse happen right now?

“Oh, I think you did, luv, not only saw, but liked. No, I know that you did. I can smell it on you, Slayer.”

She heard the rustling of the sheets as he stood and then the decided sound of boots hitting the floor and the slide of denim. “Oh my God, oh my God…he can smell me…what is he…?” The thought trailed off as she felt him come up behind her. His bare chest brushed up against her back and his hands trailed cool fire up her bare arms leaving chill bumps. She shuddered in his loose embrace and her nipples tightened, rubbing against the lace of her bra. She crossed her arms in front of her protectively and spun around, breaking his hold on her.

“What do you think your doing?!” She hissed at him, her eyes refused to leave his smirking face and travel south.

He stepped back into her personal space and caught her arms, jerking her forward until the front of their bodies met, hard nipples scraping a harder chest, soft tummy cradling his now aching cock. “Jus’ goin’ to thank you for savin’ me, Pet, for takin’ care of me…now it’s your turn.” He slowly turned her until the backs of her legs hit the bed. “I’m goin’ to take care of you now, Slayer.” He growled at her, smashing his lips against hers ferociously. She gasped in surprise and he took advantage plunging his tongue in her hot mouth, mimicking what he was going to do to her body.

He moaned, grinding his hips against her at the taste of her, sweet as honey, hotter then fire. He figured she was going to burn him, but he didn’t care. He would gladly turn to dust if only to never leave her heat.

Buffy froze up at the feel of his cool lips against hers a gasp the only sign that she feeling anything but cold. Her hands came up automatically to push him away, but only grasped his shoulders, nails digging into pale flesh as his tongue thrust into her mouth. She groaned at the taste of him, whiskey and blood, dark, dangerous, forbidden…at the thought she tore her mouth from his, gulping air.

“We can’t do this, Spike.”

“Why, luv? Who’s to know? It’d be jus’ you and me, Slayer, dancin’ just like we always do.” His voice was low and rough and shot straight to her womb. He chuckled, tongue exploring her jaw. “Only without the pain.” His mouth slid to her neck. “Only pleasure, pet, pure pleasure.”

She gasped again and tilted her neck as his lips slid from her jaw to her neck. She knew something was wrong with exposing her throat to her mortal enemy, but it felt so good, and it had been so long since she had felt like this. She moaned at the feel of his cool, wet tongue lapping at the soft skin of her throat. She hadn’t felt like this since Angel. The thought scared her. She couldn’t feel like this, not for another vampire and especially not for Spike.

She started to push at him again. He had heard her heart speed up and smelled the touch of fear that raced through her veins with her pulse. He growled as he looked up at her, his eyes flashing gold as he fought with his demon. He saw the fear flash in her expressive, hazel eyes and pushed the demon down. Slowly bending to gently kiss her soft pouting mouth.

“Shh, it all right luv. I’ve got you and I’m not going to hurt you, Buffy.” He stared into her eyes, wanting her to see the truth of what he said. And it was true he realized. Somewhere between the commandos and awaking in her bed, his anger for her had disappeared and all that was left was desire.

She didn’t know if it was the look in his eyes or the sound of her name on his lips that had her caving in, but suddenly she was back in his arms, her own twining around his neck like a vine, her lips crushing his, nipping as she sucked at them. She knew deep inside that it was wrong, but she didn’t care. It. Had. Been. So. Long.

She moaned and pulled him down onto the bed with her, her hands raced over his naked body, touching everywhere she could reach. She hit a raw patch of skin and he hissed, jerking back from her mouth.

She opened her eyes to look at him, “Sorry, sorry…I…I didn’t mean to…”

He stopped her stuttering apology with a sharp nip at her lip. “It’s okay, luv, but let’s slow this down a bit, yeah? We have all day.” His hands slid to the bottom of her tank top and slowly pulled it up exposing her tan, tone belly and lace covered breasts to his greedy view. He tossed the garment to the floor his eyes never leaving her body. “Beautiful, Pet…” his eyes flashing up to hers. “Knew you’d be beautiful…” He undid the front clasp on her bra and peeled back the cups. Her nipples were berry red and hard, begging for his mouth.

She threw back her head and gasped as his cool mouth closed over her nipple, sucking and flicking the hard nub with his agile tongue, before engulfing her small breast in his mouth and devouring her. Her other breast was attended to by fingertips painted with chipped black nail polish, rolling and pinching the aching flesh between somehow gentle fingers. She released her death grip on the sheets beneath her and tunneled her fingers in his gelled back hair, releasing surprisingly soft curls and pressing him tighter to her breasts.

Spike felt like he had finally died and gone to heaven, well at least as close as he would ever come. Her breasts were soft and vanilla scented, and underneath that was pure slayer. He took an unnecessary breath through flared nostrils, breathing her in, making her scent apart of himself. His cock was hard and throbbing against her soft sheets and he thrust his hips trying to find some sort of relief. It didn’t work. He knew that the only way to find relief would be to be buried to the hilt in her hot pussy.

He got his knees under him and rose up leaving her breasts with an audible pop and ripped her pants and panties off with one tug. She gasped in surprise, but her hands slid from his hair over his shoulders to trail down his arms, where they gripped his biceps in preparation. He looked at her for a minute, drinking in the sight of her spread beneath him. The Slayer was naked and wet, waiting for him to thrust into her open body. He almost shook his head in disbelief. It had only been a few hours ago that he stood watching her fight and imagined sinking his fangs in her neck before ripping out her throat and now here he was about to sink his cock in a totally different portion of her anatomy.

He slid his hands from her breasts over her belly and down her strong thighs before finding her center and slipping his fingers in her dripping folds. He groaned and the sound blended with her own softer moan at the feel of her slick and wet and hot. He had the thought again that she might burn him alive, but quickly forgot about it as he slipped two fingers into her heat. He curled them forward slightly, feeling for and finding her g-spot, rubbing his fingers over the little bump over and over causing her to raise her hips and cry out as he quickly brought her to climax.

Not allowing her to catch her breath he slid his fingers out of her and gripped her ass in his hands lifting her off of the bed and plunging his painful erection into her. He threw his head back and hissed, “Fuck, Slayer…Buffy…you’re so bloody tight…”

She screamed his name at the penetration, so soon after her first orgasm and came again, inner muscles clamping down on his cock, increasing his pleasure as he rammed himself in her creamy pussy. She lifted her hands above her head and grasped the brass bars of her headboard, anchoring herself against his pounding thrusts. She grasped his slick sides with her knees and held on as her body built with pleasure yet again.

Spike was out of control and didn’t care as he gripped the Slayer’s ass tight enough to bruise and slammed in and out of her tight heat. His cock was ready to explode, balls clenched tight against his body, but he wanted to feel her cum again. “Buffy, fuck…that’s it, luv…you’re so hot for me, baby…your sweet pussy is so wet and you feel so good…do you like that baby? Do you like the feel of my cock pounding your sweet pussy? Are you gonna cum for me again? That’s my girl, cum all over my hard cock Slayer!” His words were punctuated with the hard slap of his body against hers.

“Yesss….Spike…” She screamed again as her body exploded at his command. It went on and on, clamping down on his cock and milking him.

He roared, vamping, as her pussy tightened down on his thrusting cock and he sank his fangs in her breast, cumming harder then he had ever before, spurting thick ropes of his cool seed deep in her womb, while her sweet hot blood flooded his mouth. She screamed at the feel of his fangs in her tender flesh, their bodies continuing to move together, determined to make the pleasure last, to wring every drop out of the other.

He collapsed against her spent, withdrawing his fangs and licking the seeping wounds to close them, a rumbling purr coming from deep within his chest.

She relaxed her legs from around him and released the headboard to cradle him against her, knowing she would have to face the reality of what had just occurred between the two of them, but refusing to do so at that moment.

They both drifted off to sleep to the sounds of his purring and the feel of her fingers combing through his hair.

Chapter 3: Something Stinks in Sunnydale and It’s Not the Dead

Buffy awakened just after noon and lay there wrapped in the arms of her mortal enemy. Sunlight barely peeked around one corner of the dark blanket hanging over the window, allowing for her to study him in the soft light. She traced his features with wide curious eyes, from the top of his now mussed bleached locks to the eyebrow with its scar, to the high-sharp cheekbones so at odds with the soft full lips. He looked like some fallen angel come to Earth. Why did she always fall for the bad boys? She didn’t know what the hell she was doing here, in bed with him. How did that happen? And where did they go from here? She looked at clock and silently sighed. Class…ugh! But on the other hand it did let her put off thinking about her Spike problem for a little while.

She slid from his arms and the bed as quietly and quickly as possible, relieved when he didn’t awaken. She was so not ready for the conversation or confrontation she was sure he would demand. She grabbed clothes from the closet and slipped from the room, glad to be away from him and her whirling thoughts.

Spike woke up as soon as Buffy slipped from arms, but pretended he was still asleep. Hot eyes watched her nude form as she gathered clothing and left the room. He considered her movements for a minute, before smirking and relaxing back into the mattress once more, go ahead and run away, Slayer, for now…but only for now. The Big Bad has had a taste of you, and now I’m goin’ to eat you all up. It wasn’t what he had planned when he returned to Sunnyhell, but then again his plans never work out anyway. Now he knew for sure that Angelus was an idiot. She was his now, and he sure as hell wasn’t going to let her go. With that firmly in mind he let himself slide back into sleep in the Slayer’s bed.

Buffy was having a difficult time concentrating in class. Psychology was generally her most boring class and listening to Professor Walsh drone on and on about whatever usually had Buffy sleeping half way through the lecture. Today she wasn’t sleeping like usual, but her mind was definitely not in the room. It was back in her bed with a certain blond vampire. Now that she had some distance between him and last night, she was more confused then ever.

Spike was, in all likelihood, her greatest enemy. They had battled it out more times then she could count, but had failed to kill one another. She had to admit that she had loved fighting him. With the others, the fight was always over too quickly and while the kills satisfied her Slayer side, Buffy had always been left wanting more of a challenge. He did that for her. While the Slayer reveled in the kill, Buffy reveled in the fight, the dancing, as he referred to it. Buffy had always been a good dancer and it seemed that Spike was the perfect partner for her. She had thought that that had only applied to the two of them fighting. It had never crossed her mind that it could be anything else. Sure, she had known he was cute for a vampire. She had thought so the very first time she had seen him, before she knew what he was. After she knew, she just pushed it away. He was a vampire and she killed vampires. Except she never could kill him and he could never kill her.

What did that mean? What did it mean in regards to what had happened last night? Spike had always wanted to kill her, to add a third slayer to his resume, so why didn’t he try last night? She ran her fingers lightly over her breast where he had bitten her. It was definitely not a killing one, more of a what? A love bite? She shook that thought out of her head. Love didn’t enter into this…it was sex. But, she thought as she finally drifted to sleep listening to the buzz that was the professor’s voice, Spike had made her feel something she thought she had sent to hell with Angel and that scared her to death.

~

T.A. Riley Finn sat on the table behind where Professor Walsh was lecturing on the role the brain plays in determining sexual orientation. Because it was lecture day, he pretty much was free to sit and contemplate what the hell went wrong on last night’s mission. It was a routine bag and tag patrol. They were supposed to stun any hostiles and take them to base for identification and testing. The blond vampire would have been their fifth of the night, except that girl had interfered. Forrest had been adamant that she was human, the equipment registered her has having body heat at a normal human 98.6. However, she didn’t have the normal strength of a human. The vampire had called out, “Slayer” and the girl herself admitted that she was this slayer. Riley had never heard of a slayer, and hadn’t had the time to brief Professor Walsh to she if she knew what a slayer was.

Riley shifted his weight on the table trying to stretch out his aching back and scanned over the students in the lecture hall. They were all writing furiously, hanging on to every word the professor said as she had a tough reputation and grading policy. He chuckled silently as he took in a cute little red head, scribbling away, a frown of concentration on her face. He stretched out again and his gaze landed on the blond beside of her. His eyes widened a moment and he squinted trying to see her more clearly. It couldn’t be…but his eyes weren’t playing tricks. It was the girl from last night. His heart sped up as he considered the implications of his discovery. He grabbed the roster and seating chart, quickly scanning for her. There, the red head, her friend he knew, was Willow Rosenburg and the interfering blond, Buffy Summers. He had to talk to Professor Walsh soon.

Xander considered himself to be a lucky guy, perhaps for the first time in his life. He had felt left out when Buffy and Willow had decided to go to UC Sunnydale. He knew he was probably smart enough to go, but he also knew that college life wasn’t for him, he had barely made it out of high school and wasn’t looking to repeat the experience. When he decided to get out of Sunnydale and travel the open road, he had felt free for the first time ever. No drunken parents arguing or slapping him around, no one to tell him what to do, and most importantly, no basement. Traveling had in the end also brought him to this little piece of heaven on the hellmouth. All because of the experience he had picked up in construction as he went from place to place, he had landed this sweet little job on the UC Sunnydale campus.

The college needed a contractor to do various projects in and around the dorm buildings. Last week for example he had been over in the girls’ dorm building book and closet shelves. It was supposed to be a three-day job, easy. However, it had taken him four days. But, the job was finished and he had dates for both Friday and Saturday nights. Yes, life was good here on the hellmouth.

Today was kind of a slow day and today’s job not nearly as interesting as the one in the girls’ dorm. He hated gutter work anyway, and so it just figured he would have to do it today. Nevertheless, here he was perched on the top of a twelve-foot ladder repairing the gutters on the outside of the Lowell House. Luckily, it wasn’t too hot, but anyway you looked at it, this job sucked. He was supposed to meet Buffy and Willow at Buffy’s mom’s house in a few hours, before they headed over to Giles’, and he wanted to hurry and get this job done so he could move on to something else tomorrow.

He was just finishing up and was halfway down the ladder when movement inside caught his attention. Several of the guys that lived in the house came down the stairs and stopped at what Xander thought was a wall. One of them, a tall, strong looking blond guy, made some movement with his hand and the group seeming stepped inside the wall and disappeared. That in itself was strange enough, but what had originally caught his attention was that all three of the men were wearing army gear. It seemed like he had found out where the commandos lived. He hurried down the ladder and left it, running to where he had parked his truck, diving in a slamming the door. The engine turned over and he sped out of the parking lot, heading straight towards Revello Drive. He had to tell Buffy.

Chapter 4: Enemies and Lovers?

Buffy returned to her mother’s house after making a stop at the butcher’s for Spike. They hadn’t discussed it, hadn’t really discussed anything, but she couldn’t allow him to kill in her town; especially not now. She warmed a mug of the foul smelling stuff and took it up to him. He would be hungry and the blood would help any remaining injuries to heal faster.

She entered the bedroom silently, not surprised to see that he was still asleep and sat the mug down on the bedside table. He look to be still in the position he was in when she left and as she observed him, she realized that asleep, without the blazing eyes and irritating smirk, he looked more dead then she had ever seen him. Of course he looks dead, Buffy, he is technically. She sighed at her own musings and eased onto the bed beside him. His normally slicked back hair was a riot of bleached-blond curls. They looked so soft and she knew from experience now, that the locks were as soft as they looked. Unable to help herself she reached out and smoothed back a stray curl off of his forehead.

Her eyes greedily drank him in as she took the opportunity to look her fill. Something she never would have done when he was awake. His eyes saw too much of her, even those parts of Buffy that she had kept hidden since she had sent Angel into hell. Of course, this is what made him a formidable opponent. He could always get inside and if he didn’t hurt her with fists and feet, he got to her with his snide remarks. So what the hell was she doing sitting here petting her mortal enemy’s soft hair?

She sighed and stood, stripping her clothes off and slipping back into bed beside him as if she had never left. She’d sort it out later. She had a few hours before the gang would be here, plenty of time to catch a nap and perhaps a talk with her deadly lover.

~

Spike was careful to remain still once more seeing what she would do. He had awakened when she had first come in the door. A vampire, after all, did not live to be hundred and twenty-six without being careful and always on guard, especially when all his senses were screaming ‘Slayer!’ Even if that hadn’t happened he would have still known she was there. Her scent was in his blood now, that mixture he had took into himself during their lovemaking; vanilla and something spicier, something uniquely Buffy. He didn’t realize he had thought of what they had done together as lovemaking and even if he was aware of it on some level there was no way he would admit to himself.

It took all his concentration not to move into her touch as she ran her fingers through his hair. She had taken to doing that for several minutes and he wondered what she was up to. He took a chance and opened his eyes a slit, watching her, as her eyes seemed to devour him, looking him over. He wondered what she was thinking with that absorbed gaze, was she inspecting his nearly healed wounds or merely lost in thought.

He felt her muscles tense for movement as she sighed and he closed his eyes once more not wanting her to know he had been watching her watch him. He heard the rustle of fabric against skin and forced his body not to respond. He nearly moaned at the feel of her hot little body rubbing against his as she slide over him and into the bed, where she resumed her earlier position, tucked against his body, her head resting on his chest.

Figuring he could get away with it and needing to touch her, he wrapped one arm around her body and curled his body in closer to her, releasing an unnecessary breath. As he hoped she sighed again and snuggled her body closer to his, relaxing as her heartbeat slowed and her breathing took on the rhythmic cadence of sleep.

~

Spike let Buffy sleep for a little over an hour before easing her onto her back and sliding his hands over her body in a soft caress. She shivered under his cool touch, but arched her back thrusting her breasts into his hands as he cupped them and rubbed his thumbs over her nipples. She let out a soft moan as he repeated the motion, making her nipples stand tight and erect.

“C’mon Slayer, wake up.” He teased, bending his head and sucking a taunt bud into his mouth, before deliberately pulling back and blowing a stream of air on her breast, tightening it further.

She wriggled under his ministrations and mumbled a sleepy, “Don’t wanna.”

Spike chuckled at her little scrunched up face, before releasing her breasts and sliding down the bed, parting her relaxed thighs. He lifted one leg over his shoulder and spread her apart with his fingers, his tongue diving in to taste her. He licked her from top to bottom, sucking her little clit into his mouth and humming around it.

She screamed as pleasure exploded through her sleepy body and her hips left the bed, grinding onto his face.

He gripped her ass in his hands to steady her and continued his assault. “Mmm, Slayer, you do have a sweet little pussy.” And he dived back in working his tongue inside her hot hole as far as he could and wiggling it there, stroking her tight walls and making her grasp his hair in her hands and wail. He thrust in and out of her with his tongue, pausing between each stroke to suck her clit.

Buffy writhed under his skillful tongue, her body unable to remain still as it built towards climax. “Spike! Please…please…I need to…”

Spike knew exactly what she needed and set his mouth to her clit sucking hard as he plunged two fingers into her dripping pussy. Her body froze up under him and her scream of pleasure rang out into the room as her inner muscles clamped down on his fingers and she came hard. Spike hummed around her clit again and she let out another cry as her body pulsed once more under his command.

He pulled his fingers out of her slowly relaxing body and lapped up the river that flowed from her, relishing every sweet drop. She trembled with the aftershocks at each touch of his tongue, her tension finally releasing as he stopped and sat up between her legs, a grin on his shiny lips as he casually licked her juices from his fingers.

“You awake now, Slayer?” He chuckled and ducked as she threw her pillow at his head.

Chapter 5: Enemies and Lovers II

Buffy burst out laughing at the look of shock on the vampire’s face as he ducked the second pillow projectile. He recovered quickly and snatched both pillows before she could grab them again and rose to his feet beside the bed before she realized what he was doing.

“So, Slayer, you wanna play rough do you?” He purred, smirking like the fiend he was. She scrambled up towards the headboard holding her hands out in front of her.

“No, Spike…come on now, I was just joking…you don’t want to…” She broke off, squealing as the vampire launched his attack with the fluffy pillows, laughing and gasping as she searched blindly on the bed trying to find her own plush weapon.

Spike showed no mercy as he pummeled her with his pillows, although careful to temper his strength as not to topple her off the bed.

She shrieked again as his weapon hit his target, striking her up the side of the head. “That’s it Fang Boy! This is WAR!” She screamed her battled cry and launched herself at the still smirking vamp, armed with Mr. Gordo. She hit Spike dead on, bringing him to the ground, straddling his hips. Mr. Gordo went on full attack, knocking the now laughing vampire on the chest, before she finally settled on one good bonk on his head before surrendering her weapon and swooping down to crush her mouth against his smiling lips.

The kiss deepened, tongues rubbing and battling in his mouth. He moaned as she stroked her hot little tongue over the top of his mouth and she shivered at the sound of it surrounding her, settling in her lower abdomen.

She pulled back from the kiss, reluctantly, hands releasing his hair, where they had somehow become entangled; she stroked them down over his chest, rubbing small nipples, her eyes never left his, suddenly looking serious. “I’ve never felt like this before, never had this…I didn’t know that it could feel like this.”

Spike looked up at her, regarding her words carefully, despite the fact that she was naked, her heat burning his hard cock. “What d’you mean, luv?” He slid his hands up her silky legs, grasping her lightly around the waist.

She trailed her hands up and down his chest, nails scratching lightly, causing him to shiver under her. “I mean, with Angel, everything was so hard. The way we fell in love, the relationship itself, Angelus…” She stopped shuddering at the memory. His hands tightened on her slightly, comforting, encouraging her to continue. She took a deep breath, pushing the memories away and focusing on the vampire she was with now. “It was too hard, that’s really why he left, you know?” She continued not really expecting a response. “This thing between us…well I never really expected to see you again, let alone that there would be a thing between us, but it’s…nice.”

He snorted, looking at her like she was crazy. “Nice? All that build up and the best you can come up with is nice?”

She rolled her eyes and pinched his nipples, causing him to jump and squirm around beneath her. “Yeah, nice, Spike. I didn’t know that loving someone could be like this…passionate and fun. I could have never had a pillow fight with Angel, could have never laughed like that with him…it was always too hard. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

He growled at the mention of his grand-sire’s name on her lips again, a little angry. His grip tightened on her hips, “Don’t compare me to him, Slayer! I’m nothing like him!” His touch and voice softened as he continued, “But yeah, I do understand what you mean. I certainly didn’t have anything like this with Dru, it was all about the pain, if you know what I mean?” He look at her then, tongue curled behind teeth, “Who said anything about love, Pet?”

Buffy felt herself blush, suddenly feeling insecure. She stuttered, “I…well…I didn’t mean…love, love…I meant…” She stopped at the look on his face realizing belatedly that he was joking with her. “Oh, you little!” She snatched Mr. Gordo back up from the floor and started beating the now laughing vampire with him.

“Slayer!” Spike shouted, hips bucking up off the floor, trying to dislodge the attacking girl. “Oi! Stop Now, luv!” She had abandoned the stuffed pig, for devilish fingers, tickling him mercilessly. He wriggled around, laughing hysterically, trying to get control of himself long enough to get the upper hand. He sucked in a deep breath, vamping out in effort to get control and grabbed the Slayer around the waist, lifting her up and slamming her down again on the discarded pillows, planting himself firmly between her thighs.

Buffy screamed loudly as she suddenly found herself under hundred and fifty pounds of furious vampire.

~

Xander finally reached Buffy’s house determined to tell her what he had found out about the commandos. He knocked on the door, waiting for Buffy to let him in. He stood there for a few minutes, curious as to why she wasn’t answering his knock. She should have been there by now; he knew her class let out hours ago. He raised his hand to knock again, figuring maybe she was in the shower or napping as she often did in the late afternoon after a night of slaying. A scream pierced the late afternoon air, coming from inside the house. “Buffy!” He shouted, scrambling for the spare key that was always under the flowerpot. He slammed the key in the lock just as another softer scream was released.

~

Buffy screamed again in pleasure as the vamped Spike thrust hard into her wet heat with his cock and plunged his fangs into the mark he had made earlier on her breast. She grasped his forearms and held on as the demon pounded into her grunting in pleasure each time he slammed into her to the hilt. She took one hand from his arm and pressed his head against her breast as he took slow pulls of her blood. “Spike, oh baby…” She stopped what she was going to say as the vampire growled and stilled, removing his fangs from her flesh, his body tense, nostrils flared, feral, amber eyes on the door.

She followed his gaze and gasped in surprise and shock as the door burst inward, admitting an out of breath Xander, who upon seeing a naked Spike in game face leaning over an equally naked Buffy blood on his lips, froze, eyes wide, mouth dropping open in shock.

He recovered quickly pulling a stake from its place in his back pocket. “Spike!” He yelled, lunging for the bleached vampire.

Buffy gasped, shoving Spike off of her and throwing herself on top of him, shielding him with her body “Xander! No! He’s not hurting me!” She screamed at her friend.

Xander paused in mid-lunge, stopping the down stroke of the stake and jumping back as his naked friend protected the blond vamp. “Buffy! What the hell is going on?” His face was furious as he realized he had miss-read the situation and that it was worse then what he had originally thought.

Spike growled, but let Buffy remain on top of him; however he yanked the comforter off her bed and wrapped her in it, effectively hiding her nudity from the staring boy. “Whelp get the hell out of here!” His voice was low and threatening, his body tensed and prepared to defend himself and the girl he considered now to be his.

“Shut up, Spike!” Xander snapped. “Buffy, I asked you a question!” His eyes remained pinned to the blond girl.

Buffy took offense to his tone of voice. “You have no right to question me, Xander, you’re my friend, true, but that doesn’t give you the right to question what I do!”

“I’m not questioning what you’re doing, Buffy. I can see that for myself! I’m questioning who you’re doing!”

Buffy gasped in shock and outrage and a furious Spike jumped to his feet, uncaring of his nakedness, to stand in front of her. His eyes glinted dangerously, even in the low light of the room. “I said to get the hell out of this room, Whelp.” He stated again, furious at the way that this boy dared to talk to the Slayer. “She’s right, she doesn’t answer to you!”

Xander looked at Spike standing protectively in front of Buffy, who was sitting, wrapped in her blanket on the floor. She looked up at him, unshed tears in her eyes, “Get out Xander, and wait down stairs. We’ll be down in a little while.”

Xander looked once more from the blond vampire to his blonde friend and a look of disgust briefly passed over his face. He turned without another word, the sound of his work boots thudding down the stairs the only noise in the now quiet house.

~

The silence between them was deafening, as Spike remained standing over Buffy, looking down at her trembling shoulders. His demon retreated, now that the immediate danger had passed, leaving glittering blue eyes to stare down at his Slayer with a soft questioning look. She made a strangled noise and he dropped to his knees in front of her, unwrapping her from the comforter and pulling her naked body against his.

He kissed the top of her head and rubbed her back. “Sush, luv. He’s gone now.” Hoping that his words and touch would give her comfort. Fuck…I’m getting to be as bad as the Poof! He stopped talking as she let out another choked sound and he pulled back from her raising her face to his.

His eyes widened in surprise as he stared down at her smiling face and realized that she was laughing not crying. “Did you see the look on his face!” Her laughter burst out of her and she leaned weakly against her vampire, tears running down her face.

He smiled and eased them down so that she was straddling his lap. He hugged her close as she continued to chuckle and his own mirth escaped his lips as he replayed the scene in his head.

“Oh God, I thought his eyes were going to explode out of his head!” She got out, gasping for breath. He squeezed her tightly and dropped a light kiss against her lips, thinking of exactly what the Whelp had walked in on.

She returned the light press of his lips and settled against him, getting control over herself and looked at him suddenly serious. “I meant it, what I said before. It’s never been like this. I don’t know if it’s love, but it could be, very easily. When we go downstairs, I’m not going to deny anything that has happened here. I’m going to tell them all, that is if you don’t care.”

Spike looked at her. Her words filling up a part of him that he didn’t realize was empty. “I don’t mind if they know. I’m glad you’re not going to hide what happened like a dirty little secret.” He smirked and then he repeated what she had said to him. “I don’t know if its love, Pet, but it could be, very easily.”

Her heart gave a flip in her chest with his words and she knew that she had lied. It was all ready love and she was scared, but she leaned into him anyway and kissed his awaiting mouth. A gentle kiss, unlike the crushing ones of before; a gentle nip of teeth against a full pouty bottom lip, a lick across his sweet mouth, begging and receiving entrance. She moaned as his cool tongue joined hers and they stroked against each other, mimicking lovemaking.

She raised her self up and slid onto his still hard cock and they groaned into each other’s mouths at the feeling. She placed her knees on the floor along side his hips and broke the kiss, moving all the while, riding him slowly. “I wondered about this.” She stated, looking directly into his eyes.

“ ‘Bout what, luv.” His hips rose and fell gently with hers, slipping and sliding in her tight, wet hole.

“About what it would feel like to have you beneath me while I slide you in and out of me.”

He moaned at her words and bucked his hips against hers, quickening the pace. “Well, how does it feel?” Another woman had once accused him of being beneath her and it had hurt like hell, but the feel of his Slayer, above him, surrounding him, was soothing his wounded heart.

She leaned down and pressed another kiss to his lips, cupping his face in her hands. She pulled back and looked at him again. “It feels like I’m in Heaven.” She whispered softly, her hazel eyes filled with desire and love for her enemy, her lover.

It felt like heaven to him too. With that thought and her tongue thrusting into his mouth to taste him once more, he realized he had lied to her earlier. He was all ready in love.

Chapter 6: Taking the Initiative

Riley Finn stood at attention growing more and more confused at the excitement he could see growing in his commanding officer. Dr. Walsh was pacing the large laboratory area.

“You said the hostile yelled out the word ‘Slayer’ and then a girl claiming to be the this so called Slayer took down you and all your men and helped the hostile to escape?” She questioned for the third or fourth time.

“Yes, ma’am. She said that she was the Slayer. Forest assured me that she was human, or at least she registered as human on the heat sensors. But I’ve never seen anyone move that fast or anyone as strong, with the exception of some of the vampires we have collected. The vampire she saved was incredibly strong as well, the only reason we took him down was due to the tasers.”

“Okay, Captain, you said that you believe the girl you saw last night is in my Intro. to Psych. class?”

“Yes, ma’am, her name is Buffy Summers.”

“Well, Captain Finn, I believe it’s time I had meeting with Ms. Summers concerning her paper, don’t you. I’ll give her a call right now. You’re dismissed, Captain.”

Riley left the lab more confused then when he went in. He wasn’t anymore sure about what a Slayer was now then before. Something about the whole meeting left him with a strange feeling in his gut and he wasn’t too sure that he hadn’t set up Buffy Summers in some way.

~

Spike and Buffy took their time dressing neither of them looking forward to the confrontation that was awaiting them downstairs. For her part, Buffy was hoping for a little more time before she had to face her friends and Watcher. As for Spike, he could really care less what the others thought, but he knew Buffy did. However, other things were weighing on his mind at the moment.

“I told you, Slayer, I’m not drinking that crap. You might as well dump the lot of it.” He argued stomping down the stairs after the fuming blonde girl.

Buffy continued past the others in the living room, mug of congealed pig’s blood in her hand, and into the kitchen. “Spike, you know that I can’t let you kill. I’m the Slayer, how would it look if my boyfriend went around killing?” She dumped the mug, grimacing at the mess, and turned the hot water on, grabbing the soap and dumping it in the mug.

She squealed in surprise when two cool arms wrapped around her waist, dropping the mug with a thunk in the sink, before she was spun around and staring into wide, blue eyes.

“Boyfriend, luv? Is that what I am?” Spike asked quietly, the rush of running water further drowning out their conversation to the three that stood in the doorway avidly trying to hear their muted conversation.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and responded just as quietly, aware of, but ignoring the others. “Well, yeah, I mean, I thought we agreed…” She broke off looking at his smiling lips and laughing eyes. Her eyes narrowed as she realized he was teasing her again. She had had no idea that he was so playful. “What would you call it? This…whatever…we have?”

“Actually, luv, boyfriend is good, for now.” His smile disappeared and he looked at her seriously.

She arched her eyebrow in question, trying to pull away from. Fear raced in her body and her heart pounded as she tried to figure out what he meant. Was he thinking of leaving her all ready?

He felt her tense up and heard her heart and blood begin to race. Suddenly the smell of fear didn’t make his demon happy, at least not on this girl. He jerked her back to him, pressing a hard kiss to her mouth before sliding his cool lips along her jawbone on his way to her ear. “Yeah, luv, for now. Later…well, later I was thinking maybe we could change it to mate.”

She shivered in reaction as his breath touched her; his voice was a purring rumble that she felt throughout her body. She realized what he was saying and a radiant smile lit her face with happiness. Happiness that he meant to stay, he wouldn’t be talking about mating if he wasn’t seriously going to stay. She hugged him to her tightly, ignoring the sputtering of her Watcher and whispered so only Spike could hear. “About the blood thing, maybe we can work something out, just between the two of us.” She leaned back to look in his eyes, raising an eyebrow so he would get her meaning.

He looked at her a moment, surprise lighting his face, before grinning wildly and sweeping her back in his embrace.

A loud clearing of the throat had her pulling her head up from where it was tucked against his cool neck and she smiled widely at the sight of her Watcher furiously cleaning his glasses. “Hi Giles! Look who I found last night while I was on patrol!”

~

Giles paced agitatedly in front of his Slayer and the vampire she was currently sitting on. “What the bloody hell is going on here?!” He asked in what he thought was a reasonable tone, although he was feeling anything but reasonable.

Xander jumped up, “That’s what I said! Only, you know, without the…bloody…” his voice trailed off and he slumped back into his chair at the glare Giles turned on him. Willow curled herself into the small possible target and waited to hear what Buffy had to say.

Buffy remained sitting on Spike’s lap, half afraid that one of the others would stake him if given half the chance. “Last night I was finishing up patrolling, getting ready to head in when I heard the sounds of a fight and went to see what was going on. When I got there, Spike was on the ground, surrounded by those commando guys. They had hit him with those taser thingys and he was unconscious. They were getting ready to take him when I stepped in.”

Giles, Xander, and Willow were looking at her in disbelief. “Why would you feel it necessary to step in at all, Buffy?” Giles asked incredulously. “The way I see it, it would have solved the problem quite nicely.” Willow and Xander nodded their heads in agreement.

Buffy jumped to her feet, hands planted on hips, still standing in front of the vampire. “Spike is not their problem to solve.” She stated clearly, voice hard and steady. “I don’t know what they are doing with the demons that they catch, but they have no idea what they are messing with. Besides, Spike helped me once, he helped me stop Angelus, and I feel for that alone he deserved help. He was my greatest enemy, my most worthy opponent. I have fought more with him then anyone else and we both are still alive. He is my equal in strength and strategy. He is my mortal enemy. Mine.” She paused and glanced back at him, smiling at the look of awe and surprise on his handsome face. She turned back to the others. “Well, he was my mortal enemy. That’s why I helped him last night. Now, I’m going to help him, protect him, because no one messes with my boyfriend.”

She stood glaring at her Watcher and best friends, daring them to say something. Her tension eased as she felt him step up behind her, his hands covered hers on her hips, interlacing their fingers.

Spike stood, his body pressed tight against her petite frame, showing her his support, and that they were in this together, he felt her body relax in his embrace. The Watcher stood face lax in surprise and disbelief at her words, furiously polishing the lenses out of his glasses. Spike had to fight not to laugh at the look on the Whelp’s face; his mouth was opening and closing like a fish and the little red witch’s eyes were wide and nervous.

“Buffy, I really must insist that you tell me, what are you thinking? This is Spike, he doesn’t have a soul, he feels no remorse for his past actions…does name William the Bloody mean anything to you? I seriously doubt he got the name for his bloody awful singing.” Giles was furious at his Slayer. After Angel, he thought she would show more common sense.

Spike snorted at the Watcher’s words, if he only knew. But he said nothing, just continued to hold on to the Slayer waiting to see what she would say.

“Yes, Giles, I know, probably better then you who he is and what he’s done. I go out and fight his kind every night and I have for the past four years. You’re mad at me because I have chosen another vampire for a boyfriend. Well go ahead and be mad at me, Giles, but we both know that I probably won’t live to see my twenty-first birthday, most Slayer’s don’t. I will continue to fight, I have to, but I’m not only the Slayer, I’m Buffy too. I’ve done nothing but patrol and save the world for the past four years. Since Angel left, I haven’t even looked at another guy. You may not want to hear this, but I have needs, Giles. I need you, my friends, my Mom, but I also need him. I’m tired of being alone. None of you can know what it means to be a Slayer. I don’t want you to have to know. But, Spike…he knows what it’s like to live in the dark. He knows me, he always has and I know him. You want to know what he is, Giles? Spike, William the Bloody…those are just names. He. Is. Mine. That’s all you need to know. I protect what’s mine.

By the end of her speech she was in tears, as was Willow. Spike turned her in his arms, his eyes suspiciously glassy and licked the trail of tears from her face, before wrapping his arms around her and burying his face into the warm skin of her neck, her hair covering his face. He breathed in her sweet scent and held on to her. In all of his years as a human and a vampire, no one had chosen him. No one had stood up for him and declared him theirs. That this little girl had, his mortal enemy…he felt the walls that surrounded his heart, his humanity…William, crack and while the demon was still in there, William was a little more in control.

Giles, sputtered, “I’m sorry, Buffy, but I cannot condone this. I will never condone you being with another vampire with or without a soul.”

Buffy turned her head slightly on Spike’s chest to look at her Watcher with fresh tears in her hazel eyes. “Then don’t condone it Giles, I wasn’t really asking you to.” Even though his words had broke another piece of her heart. The heart that the vampire wrapped around her, was slowly putting back together one stitch at a time. “Don’t condone it, but be my Watcher, help me find out about those commandos, help me find out what they are doing in my town.”

“Uh, actually, that was why I came here earlier, before, uh, I…uh, yeah…” Xander started, clearly not comfortable with the situation. He shot a look of loathing at the peroxided vampire when the blond looked up from Buffy’s shoulder and growled, flashing fangs. “Anyway, I was over on campus, working at Lowell House. I saw some of those soldiers; they were inside the house. I’m not sure where they went, but it seemed like they disappeared into the wall. So, I’m thinking that maybe there’s something there.”

Buffy turned back around and faced her friends. “Okay, I’ll see what I can find out, I think that TA in our Psych. class lives there, Wills, maybe we can talk to him.” She swiped the tears from her face and straightened her back. Everything was not okay, but she still had a job to do. “I’ll go patrol on campus and see if I can find any of those guys. Xander, do you think you can work around the frat house again tomorrow? Maybe try and get inside?”

Xander nodded in agreement.

“Willow can you maybe get on the net and search to see if you can find out anything about the army or whatever having a base here?”

Willow nodded and wiped the tears from her face, she was hoping to get Buffy alone to talk to her. “I was kinda hoping you’d let me patrol with you?”

Buffy looked at her for a long moment, before nodding her agreement. “Giles, maybe you could contact the council and see if they have heard anything about what’s going on with the disappearing demons.”

Giles nodded as well and turned with the Xander to leave. After all there was nothing more to say at this moment.

Willow went into the kitchen to give Buffy and Spike some privacy. She still wasn’t sure what happened between her friend and the vampire, but there was something different about the blond vamp.

Buffy turned back around in his arms and slid her hands into his hair, pulling him down for a long kiss, renewing their connection, needing it. Their tongues slid together, rubbing softly, before she broke the kiss and stared in his eyes. “Well, that was fun…not.” She kissed him again briefly. “You still look paler then usual, and I know you’re still tired. Why don’t you go back up to bed and try and sleep while I patrol?”

Spike brushed her hair back, tucking the golden strands behind her ears and leaned down to catch her mouth again, wanting nothing more then to go back to bed, but with her with him. He pulled back. “All right, luv. I’m still a bit knackered.”

“Are you okay for now? Do you need blood?” Her small hands cupped his face, looking for an answer.

“No, I’m ok. Maybe later though.” He leaned into her touch. He was a little hungry and he was still finding it hard to believe that she was willing to give him her blood, but there was no way he was going to let her do it before she went out to patrol.

“Okay, I’ll be back in a little while and we’ll see how you’re doing then. I’m not staying out long because I’ve got that meeting with Professor Walsh in the morning.” Still holding his face in her hands, she leaned in for a lingering goodbye kiss, pulling away with a small hmm of pleasure. “Later, baby.” She said and went out through the kitchen to get Willow.

Chapter 7: Lovers and Their Enemies:

Buffy hurried through patrol wanting nothing more to get back to her vampire and away from Willow’s never-ending questions and resolve face. Buffy flipped her hair off her neck and sighed, stopping to rest against a tombstone and determined to get this conversation over with.

“Okay, Willow, go for it, I can see we’re not going to get through patrol without twenty questions.”

“Well, yeah, best friend here, remember? You’re supposed to want to talk to me.”

“Willow, you haven’t exactly been available girl lately, what with you spending every night with Oz, and hey, I’m fine with that really. You deserve to have a boyfriend, but it has been lonely.” She looked at Willow, hoping that she at least would try to understand the whole Spike situation. “You didn’t say much back there. You ok with this?”

Willow settled beside of Buffy and tried to answer her honestly. “I don’t know that ok is the right word, I mean, hey evil vampire tried to kill me a bunch of times…” she trailed off when Buffy looked away, biting her lip and blushing. “But, I do get what you’re saying about being lonely, about needing someone that understands you. I also know how hard it hass been since Angel left, how you cry at night sometimes, and how you shy away from guys at the Bronze.”

Buffy stood at the hard truths her friend was stating and begin pacing.

“If Spike makes you happy, if you think you can trust him, then I’ll stand by you. I might not be able to trust him yet, but I will be here if you need to talk…speaking of which…” She looked at Buffy coyly out of the corner of her eye. “Xander caught you and Spike doing what?”

Buffy didn’t believe she could turn much redder, but she did, stopping her pacing at looking at Willow. “Well, we were, uh…he…” She stopped when Willow burst out laughing.

“You should have seen the look on your face!” She continued giggling for a few more minutes while, Buffy stood, bemused smile on her face. “So, how was he? Bet vampires are really good at…you know…what with the whole not needing to breath thing.”

Buffy’s mouth flopped open in surprise, and she slapped at her friend’s arm playfully, “Willow! You should talk! What about you and Oz, he has that whole predator thing going on too!”

Willow blushed as red as her hair. “Well, yeah…umm, yeah, I think we’ve patrolled enough don’t you?”

~

Buffy was still giggling about her friend’s insinuation when she let herself in the front door. She turned, closing and locking the door behind her, gasping sharply when suddenly she was pressed against it with a game-faced Spike against her back.

“What’s so funny little girl?” He growled nuzzling against her neck with his mouth, careful not to draw blood.

She tilted her head to give him better access and relaxed against his body, rubbing her ass against the erection she could feel against her. “Thought you were going to go to sleep?”

“Well, yeah, tried that, but couldn’t. Your scent was all over the bed, the room, me…” he thrust his cock against her harder, “got me all hard.”

“Ohhhh, poor baby,” she continued her assault, a thrill going through her at his words. It made her feel powerful, that she could do this to him, the vampire she could never quite defeat, “want me to take care of that for you, baby.”

He growled and spun her around his arms, before pushing her onto her knees. “Hell yeah, want you to take care of it…” he trailed off and growled again as he felt his zipper being lowered and her hot little hand taking him out.

She pulled him from his jeans and wrapped her hand around him, swiping the leaking tip with her thumb and then stroking her hand down his hard shaft. She looked up at him mischievously before sticking her tongue out, tip pointed and licking his head, poking the slit with it. He growled and braced his hands against the door, his head falling back, as she opened her mouth and took him inside, swirling her tongue around the head of his cock before pulling him in as far as she could take him. His cock hit the back of her throat and she hummed at the salty-sweet taste of him, causing him to moan and thrust at the vibration against his sensitive glands. She smiled around him at the sound and did it again, before carefully swallowing.

He roared his approval and reached down to hold her head still before he started thrusting gently into her mouth. She stilled her movements and let him lead, when he realized she understood he put his hand back on the door and used it as leverage as he fucked her mouth.

Buffy had never done this before, Angel hadn’t let her, but she wanted to do it for Spike. She didn’t really know what she was doing, but he was easy to please, so she followed his lead and did what his moans, growls and groans told her he liked. Each time he withdrew she would suck hard, swirling her tongue over the length of his shaft, when he thrust back in she’d swallow around the head of his cock.

He was out of control, babbling incoherently, with every thrust. “Fuck…Slayer…Buffy…where the hell did you…ah…yeah, do that again…” He had no idea what he was saying, he just knew as he felt his orgasm build, balls drawing up tight against his body that it was going to be hard. “Fuck, fuck, baby, gonna cum…” he gripped her head and thrust in hard one last time, screaming ferally as he exploded into her mouth.

Buffy gripped his ass in her hands to hold him to her and swallowed furiously as he came in her mouth. He tasted unlike anything she had ever tasted before, salty and sweet at the same time, thick and creamy. She closed her eyes and moaned at the wetness she felt between her own thighs and she tightened her muscles, shifting her thighs together, wanting friction on her clit.

Her moaned caused him to growl and give a final shudder before he pulled himself out of her mouth and collapsed on his knees in front of her. They wrapped their arms around each other holding on as he calmed down and she tried to assuage her arousal.

It didn’t work, “Spike, Spike…I need…” She pulled on his blond hair, raising his face from the crook of her neck, hazel eyes, wide and glazed with lust.

Sated blue eyes blazed back at her in desire and love. “Shhh, love, I know what you need.” He laid her back gently on the floor and raised her short skirt, hooking his fingers in her thong and tearing it from her, while sliding down between her legs. He blew a cool stream of air across the neatly trimmed curls of her glistening pussy. “Let Spike take care of you.”

He pushed her legs up, widening her for him and used his thumbs to spread her apart. Inhaling unnecessarily, he breathed in her arousal, and growled as his cock hardened once more. Her hips were raising and lowering desperate for his touch and he knew that she was so aroused from sucking him off that she was ready to cum. He licked her slit from top to bottom causing her to cry out and grasp his hair tightly, he chuckled against her clit and she bucked against his mouth urging him on. Deciding not to prolong her torture, he sucked her hard clit between his lips and plunged two fingers into her dripping hole. She screamed as he thrust his fingers again and again, laving her bud with the flat of his rough tongue, and began to cum. He finger fucked her through her orgasm, drawing his fingers out as the contractions lessened and replacing them with his tongue, licking and sucking her cream from her body.

When she had calmed, he slid back up her body, taking her mouth in a kiss, rubbing their tongues together so that their flavors combined on both their tongues, a loud purr rumbled through his chest at the taste of them.

She pulled away from their kiss and giggled at the sound, and thought again of Willow’s comment.

Spike pulled up to look at her, the question in his dark azure eyes. “I ask again little girl, what’s so funny?”

Buffy just laughed harder and hugged him against her.

Chapter 8: Lovers and Their Enemies: Part II

Buffy had left Spike sleeping in her bed and made her way towards campus for her appointment with Professor Walsh. Her thoughts of her lover tumbled through her mind as she replayed the night before over and over. She had never before felt the pleasure that Spike had given her, not even with Angel, her supposed true love. She thought that she had known what love was, but she hadn’t. Love was now soft bleach, blond hair, ferocious demon and gentle man. Love was hard and fast, slow and sweet. Love was him, Spike. She sighed as she remembered their lovemaking after they had finally made it upstairs. It had been lovemaking, maybe her first time at making love. She hoped that this thing with Spike would never end. She hoped that he felt the same way.

As she reached the Psychology building, she shook her thoughts off and pondered what Professor Walsh wanted to see her about. She had done really well on her last paper, so she was unsure of what it could be. Of course, she tended to miss class a lot, slayage not being conducive to early morning classes.

She opened the door and took the stairwell to the fifth floor, arriving unwinded and smiling, ready to speak with her Professor.

She knocked on the slightly open door. “Professor Walsh, Buffy Summers here to see you.”

The Professor set aside her papers and removed her glasses, allowing time for Buffy to walk into the room. She held out her hand, “Yes, Miss Summers, I’m glad to see that you’re on time.” She cocked a meaningful eyebrow and the young woman, and Buffy blushed in response to the small reprimand. “Please take a seat, Miss Summers.”

Buffy sat, straightening her skirt and crossing her legs. “Why did you wish to see me, Professor? I did really well on my last paper…”

Buffy trailed off as the Professor raised her hand for silence. “No, no, you’re right you did do well on your last paper, your exam too. That’s not why I called you in here.”

Buffy looked puzzled at this remark. “But wasn’t that the message you left for me at home, Professor Walsh?”

“Yes, well, you see, Miss Summers I needed you to come in and thought it a reasonable excuse.” The Professor eased around Buffy and closed the door, the lock engaged with a quiet snick. “I’ve heard something rather interesting, Buffy, may I call you Buffy?” She waited until Buffy had given her permission. “Yes, something very interesting about you, my dear.”

Buffy was confused as to what the Professor was alluding, but felt the tingle in the back of her neck, signaling that something was wrong. She always paid attention to that feeling. It had saved her life from Spike on several occasions. “I’m sure I don’t know what you are talking about, Professor. How about you tell me?” Buffy stood, putting the two on more even footing.

“I’m talking about the fact that you are the Slayer.”

“What? Where did you hear…what’s a Slayer?” Buffy was alarmed at the implications. Why would this women know that, and more importantly, why would she care?

“You see, Buffy, I have a vested interest in things like these; vampires, demons, Slayers. Although I must admit, I thought the Slayer was a myth until my men told me about you saving a certain vampire…”

Buffy was extremely alarmed. She realized she could be in trouble. “Your men? Oh, you mean the men whose asses I kicked for touching my vampire?” The blonde cocked her hip, resting her hand upon it. “Let’s cut to the chase here, all right. You’re right I am the Slayer. Your men, or whatever, are messing with things they have no business with. Slayer equals The Chosen One. The Chosen One, the one girl in all the world, Professor Walsh, not the Chosen One and a bunch of wannabe demon hunters.”

The Professor just smiled at the girl calmly. “Thank you, Miss Summers, for verifying my men’s story. Captain Finn? Contain her.”

Buffy spun on her heels too late, as she had never even sensed the other human in the room, as he brought down a taser on her exposed neck. The pulse shot directly into her nervous system, causing a disturbance in her pulse, making her black out. Finn caught her in his arms, awaiting further instruction.

Walsh nodded in satisfaction. “Take her into the Initiative lab and strap her down. I’ll call Dr. Chi and tell him to be waiting.”

The soldier nodded that he understood and swept through the hidden entrance behind the bookshelf, his burden light in his arms, but heavy on his mind.

~

Spike was unconcerned when he awakened late afternoon and found that Buffy was not home. He knew she had a meeting at the college, and figured she had gone on over the Watcher’s to train afterwards.

He had fed from his love the night before, and really wasn’t in need of blood, but that didn’t stop him from being peckish. He sorted through the Summers’ icebox hoping to find something appetizing. He shuddered in distaste as he shoved the container of pig’s blood to the very back, where he found a lone bottle of beer and twisted off the top. He took a long swallow and shivered at the bitter flavor. Damn American beer, but shrugged and took it with him into the living room. He snagged the remote off of the television, and flipped it on, rapidly scanning through the channels, before settling on one and flopping back on the couch, beer in hand.

He smirked as Passions played, bloody good show that, and drank the rest of his beer, before falling back on the couch and watching his show. He never knew when he fell back to sleep, dreaming of silken skin, vanilla, and hot, sweet Slayer blood.

~

Riley Finn, snuck away from the underground compound as soon as he knew he wouldn’t draw attention to himself. He felt physically sick at what he had seen and been apart of this afternoon. He had joined the Initiative after five years spent in Brazil while he was in the army. The things he had seen down there had been terrifying. He believed in job that the Initiative was doing, or he did before coming to Sunnydale. In Brazil, his unit had protected civilians from vampires and other demons. Here, Professor Walsh didn’t allow them to kill the hostiles, she wanted them tagged and brought in for testing.

He had let it go all this time, because really, they were just demons. But that girl, Buffy, she was human, stronger then most, and she had protected that vampire, but she was still only human. The tests they performed on her this afternoon had proved that.

He shuddered in thought of the things they had done to that girl. The blood and DNA analysis were nothing. They had probed and took samples from every orifice on the girl’s body, and when the Professor had found live semen in the girl, live, blood filled semen; she had been thrilled, ordering testing on Buffy’s reproductive system to see if there could be a viable pregnancy. She had gone on and on about the possibility of a vampire producing a child with the Slayer. Her eyes had a gleam that Riley didn’t like when she talked about how powerful such a being would be. The ultimate soldier.

So, as soon as they had taken the girl down for an ultrasound, he had left the complex, heading for Revello Drive, the address he had found for the girl in the Professor’s record book. He hoped to locate the girl’s red-haired friend, Willow and get her some help. He couldn’t be directly involved, but he couldn’t leave her in the Professor’s hands either. ~

The banging on the front door startled Spike so badly, that he nearly fell off the couch. “Bloody hell, who could that be? Slayer’s not even here, stupid pillocks…” he muttered, figuring it was the whelp or witch.

He stomped over to the door and opened it carefully, before realizing that the sun had set and throwing it on open. He growled, slipping automatically into game face at the sight of the boy on the other side, before grabbing him and slamming him up against the wall by the door, fangs bared, ready to rip out his throat.

Riley gasped as he found himself slammed up against a wall by a furious vampire. He stuttered around the blond vamp’s tight grip, trying to tell him about Buffy. “Wait, I’ve got to…”

Spike snarled as the boy presumed to tell him to wait. “Why the hell should I you bloody git, you didn’t give me much of a chance the other night.” He roared in anger at the memory of this boy and his pals striking him with the tasers over and over, and plunged his fangs into his throat, growling and feeding.

“Buffy…”

The vampire stopped at the sound of his Slayer’s name on the boy’s lips. He pulled away from his neck. Looking hard at the trembling boy. “What about her?” He demanded, loosening his hold so the kid could speak.

“Professor Walsh has her. Our unit, the one you fought the other night, is not the only one here in Sunnydale. Professor Walsh heads up a branch of the army called the Initiative. It was originally supposed to be to protect civilians from vampires and other demons. But here, things are different; you saw that the other night. I told Professor Walsh that the girl called herself the Slayer and she was very interested in that. The meeting today, was a set up, she had Buffy taken into the Initiative.”

Spike was furious and he could smell Buffy all over this boy, her scent and her blood. “Who helped her? I know that Buffy could have easily taken the bint out. She’s the strongest Slayer I’ve ever faced, and I’ve killed two before. So you tell me, who helped her.” He shook the boy roughly, his bloodlust rising with his anger.

“I…I didn’t know…” Riley tried to explain, but it fell on deaf ears. The vampire roared again and threw the boy across the room, before stalking him, and punching him hard in the face.

He lifted the boy up again. “You are going to go with me now and tell the Watcher what you just told me. Then you are going to take me to her or I will finish what I started, is that clear?”

Riley nodded his head, knowing the vampire wouldn’t hesitate to kill him. “There’s something else.” He was afraid not to tell the vampire the whole story. “They were doing tests on her, trying to find out what makes her the Slayer…” He paused as the vampire tightened his grip and growled low in his chest. “They found semen, live, blood semen. They think it belongs to a vampire. When I left they were taking her to see if there was a chance she could be pregnant, thinking that any child that would belong to a vampire and a slayer would be the ultimate soldier.”

Spike froze as he realized the implication of what the boy told him. He knew he was the only one Buffy had been with and the boy had said bloody semen that they believed belonged to a vampire. He didn’t know how the bloody hell his seed could be alive, but he wasn’t about to question it. If it was possible and Buffy could be pregnant… Well, fuck it, that didn’t matter, except for the fact that both Buffy and any baby was his and he kept what was his.

He shoved the boy towards the door, “Let’s go.”

Chapter 9: Lovers and Their Enemies 3:

Buffy awoke with her head pounding and her nude body freezing. She tried to set up, but realized she couldn’t. Panic flooded her system as she began to yank at the restraints holding her down on a cold steel table. She fought against her bonds, rubbing her wrists and ankles bloody before collapsing against icy metal. Tears leaked out of the corner of her eyes, but she refused to let any noise escape, she was alone right now, but knew that probably wouldn’t last long. Her body was a mass of bruises, her arms traced with puncture marks, and there was a burning deep between her thighs. She wanted to sob at the realization that they had left no part of her untouched, but bit it back, crying wouldn’t solve anything and she needed to be calm to get herself out of this mess. She could cry later when she was home with Spike. At the thought of the blonde vampire, tears flooded her eyes again; this then was what she had saved him from. She blinked them away, resolve slipping over her features, she would escape, or Spike and the others would come for her, and when she did, that bitch and her little soldiers were going down.

When the door opened, Walsh was greeted with hard hazel eyes and a sneer. “Where’s your little boy toy, Professor? Or do you actually do the dirty work yourself?” She glared at the woman hatred burning bright. “When I get out of here, when he comes for me, I’ll let him kill you.”

The Professor looked highly amused and smug, unconcerned. “Oh, I hope he does come for you, Ms. Summers. You see he has managed to do something quite remarkable, and I will need you both for the next phase of the plan.”

She walked forward and shoved a paper in front of Buffy’s nose. Buffy’s forehead wrinkled as she tried to understand what she was looking at. It looked like some kind of picture, black and white. But it was strange looking, kind of wavy and there was a small darker area in the middle. She looked at Walsh. “Hate to tell you this, but if that’s supposed to look like anything, it doesn’t. What? Your camera’s broken?” She snarked at the woman trying to cover up her confusion.

The Professor just continued to smile smugly. “This Ms. Summers is that remarkable thing that your vampire did. This Ms. Summers is your zygote.” She waited for Buffy to respond.

“My what kind of goat?” Buffy asked, confusion evident.

“A zygote, Ms. Summers. Soon it will be a fetus and if it survives, a child. A child created by a Slayer and a vampire.” The Professor threw her head back and laughed at the look of shock on the girl’s face.

“But…but, that’s not possible…Spike’s not alive…how…” She trailed off, tears blinding her sight once more as reality set in. Spike, however it had happened, had made her pregnant. She was going to have a baby; a baby with Spike, whom she now freely admitted that she loved. Joy flooded her heart and soul, until she looked back at the woman who was holding her captive.

Professor Walsh undid the restraints and tossed Buffy a hospital style gown, unconcerned about the Slayer attacking her. Buffy tried to leap off the table, grabbing for the Professor, but feel weakly to the floor. The Professor looked down at her smiling her smug smile again. “Your strength has been incapacitated, Ms. Summers, you won’t be able to fight your way out of here. I suggest you get dressed you will be escorted to your cell. I also suggest, that you make yourself comfortable there. You will be remaining here as my ‘guest’ until after the birth of the child.” She trailed off, her eyes glazing over as she continued. “Think about it, the child of a Slayer and a vampire, what kind of power it might possess.” Her eyes sharpened, as she looked the young woman once more. “The ultimate warrior, Ms. Summers, and as soon as I have the vampire, I’ll have unlimited resources to create more.”

Buffy shivered as the Professor left the room she was cold, frozen inside and out. That they planned to keep her was bad enough, but that they would use an innocent baby, turn it into an unstoppable soldier…Buffy wrapped the thin gown around her trembling body and prayed that Spike would get to them soon. She was afraid for him to come, but knew that they had no chance for their baby to survive if he didn’t.

~

Spike beat his fist against the Watcher’s door impatiently, scowling at the stupid wanker beside of him. He was bloody well furious and if he didn’t need the git he’d all ready ripped his throat out. It pissed him off that he needed him. It pissed him off that he needed the Watcher and the others, but he knew he couldn’t go into the place unprepared and without back up. He pounded the door again.

“Bloody hell, Watcher, open up the bloody door!” He growled, physically forcing himself not to change in his agitation. It wouldn’t do to scare the Watcher as soon as he opened the door, the bloody git didn’t trust him as it was, not that he could blame him, he was the Big Bad.

Giles pulled the door open and only missed being hit in the face as Spike began to beat the door again due to the barrier. “Spike!” He hissed. “What the hell are you doing here? Where’s Buffy?” He took a step forward cross in one hand and stake in the other. “What did you do to her?” His face was enraged.

Spike held his hands up in supplication and shoved the soldier forward, “Hold on you git, that’s what were here to tell you. Invite me in.”

“Are you insane?! There is no way in hell that I would invite you in here! Just because Buffy has gone crazy, doesn’t mean we all have.” He gestured wildly towards Xander and Willow, whom had walked up behind him.

Spike looked at the witch. “Let me in, luv, Buffy’s in trouble and this wanker can prove I’m telling the truth.” He said pointing at Riley.

Willow hesitated, wanting to believe in the blond vampire as much as Buffy, and Spike pressed it to his advantage. “I love her, Red.” He said softly.

Willow’s emerald eyes widened and then softened making her entire face glow prettily. “Let him in Giles, he isn’t going to hurt us.”

Giles looked at Willow, eyes wide, mouth opening and closing like a fish. “I cannot believe that you would fall for his obvious attempt…”

“Come in, Spike.” Willow said quickly over top of Giles’ rant. Spike smirked at Giles and shoved Riley through the door. He stalked over to couch, tossing the boy onto it. “Now,” he growled. “tell them.”

Riley looked at the vampire and gulped, before turning his attention to the rest of the group. He looked at Willow and began to talk. “I work for a branch of the Army called The Initiative. We have a base under the campus. We’ve been in town for about six months. It is our mission to hunt down vampires and other demons here in Sunnydale and capture them for further study. A few nights ago, we tried to capture him,” he said, pointing at Spike. “A girl stopped us from taking him and injured several of my men. She said she was the Slayer.”

Giles sputtered, “Of all of the irresponsible…I can’t believe Buffy would…”

“Shut the hell up, Watcher and listen to what the git has to say.” Spike growled.

Giles glared at the blond vampire, but closed his mouth. There would be plenty of time to lecture later.

“Anyway,” Riley continued. “When I mentioned to my supervisor that Buffy said she was the Slayer, she became highly interested in her. She devised a plan to get Buffy alone in her office so that we could capture her.”

He stopped and looked at the vampire and then Giles. “It worked. We injected her with a muscle relaxant that restrained her strength and took her into the lab. I didn’t know what they were going to do to her, I swear. I would never have helped them if I knew…” he stuttered to a stop as Spike vamped out and growled at him.

Giles, looking at the vampire’s response, became alarmed for the first time. If Spike was acting like this it must be bad. “Tell us the rest.” He commanded, a little of Ripper showing through.

“Dr. Walsh, my boss, ran all kinds of tests on her, took samples from her blood, skin, hair, and ovaries. They cut her to see how fast she healed, punched her to see if she bruised. During testing, it was discovered,” He gulped and looked at the vampire. Spike nodded for the boy to go on. “It was discovered that there was a chance she could be pregnant, Sir.”

Willow gasped and Xander turned pale, Giles removed his glasses and started polishing them on his sleeve. Xander recovered first. “But that’s impossible, she hasn’t even been dating anyone since Angel! She hasn’t had sex with anyone but,” He trailed off as a look of horror passed over his face as he remembered what he had walked in on the day before. “Oh no, no, no, no! There is no way, plus, he’s dead!”

Riley looked at the boy. “Dr. Walsh believes that Spike, for whatever reason, produced live sperm and inseminated Buffy. She was taking her for a sonogram when I left.” He looked pointedly at the group, “If its true, Buffy won’t be allowed to leave until after the birth of the child, if then. Dr. Walsh would not let a chance to study a child created by a vampire and a Slayer pass by.”

Giles shook himself out of his shock and took charge. “Willow grab whatever you need for any type of spell we might need to perform. Xander, take Riley and get enough explosives to blow the entire facility.” Willow, Riley and Xander all nodded and left, the door slamming behind them. “Spike, I can’t believe I’m asking this, but have you fed? Do you need blood? We need you as strong as possible if we’re going to get her out alive.”

Spike growled at the thought that they would fail and she would die. “I’m fine, mate and we will get them both out alive or die tryin’.”

Giles blinked at the vampire’s forcefulness. “Yes, right, of course, them…if it’s true, then we’ll need to research when this is all over, there must be a prophecy about this.”

“My child will not be because of a prophecy!” Spike roared, incensed at the thought that his child was a result of anything but love.

“Spike, calm down. I said we’ll talk about it later, after they are safe.” As they started to gather some weapons, Giles realized that he had accepted that Spike was now apart of his Slayer’s and as a result of, his life. If there was indeed a child, well, he was even more important to Buffy then before.

Chapter 10: Into the Initiative:

Riley led the others through the sewer entrance of the Initiative, knowing that they would be watching the main entrance and the one through Lowell House. He also knew, that other then soldiers disposing of demon carcasses, no one ever came this way and that it was not wired for cameras. He was only hoping that they hadn’t discovered his desertion and changed the passwords for the access doors. He knew he wouldn’t be able to go back now, not after he’d seen what they had done to an innocent girl. He also knew that he couldn’t allow them to use any of the samples they had taken from her to make their soldiers. The entire place would have to be destroyed. ~

Spike hated waiting. It was one of the reasons his plans to take down Buffy had always failed. He was too impatient, of course, now that he knew how he really felt about the Slayer, there could have been another reason he could never killed the bint. He let a smile curl his lips as he remembered their dances, both on the battlefield and in the bedroom. He couldn’t believe that it was only a few days ago that he had come to town bent on killing her and ended up shaggin’ her instead. Damn if he didn’t get the better deal.

Despite his thoughts of his love, or maybe in spite of them, his demon was raging to be released. Even though he hadn’t claimed her in that way yet, his demon loved her as much as the man. He held tight rein on the demon though, knowing if he didn’t that he would kill the boy and that wouldn’t win him any favors from the Watcher and the others. He needed them to trust him now more then ever, because he wasn’t giving up his woman or child, and he was sure there was a child. He didn’t know how it could be possible, but he felt certain that the Slayer was breeding. He wanted to throw his head back and roar in triumph and in fury that someone had dared take what was his. But he didn’t, he followed the others and thought about how he was going to take that bloody Professor apart piece by piece and not even his love could stop him.

~

Giles took the time during their walk to observe the vampire. He couldn’t understand how a soulless demon could show such an array of emotions, how he would even want to help the Slayer, his mortal enemy. However, this was the second time that Spike had aligned himself with Buffy and he had to admit that without the vampire’s interference that Angelus would have killed him during the whole Acathla debacle. Giles decided to do what it is that he did best, wait and watch. If it looked like Spike was going to be a problem, then he would take care of it himself.

~

Riley paused at the mouth of the tunnel that would lead into the complex. He knew what the others would see and was ashamed of his part in it. He turned and held his finger to his mouth cautioning them to be quiet from here on out. He watched in disgusted fascination as the vampire, whom had been muttering and cursing under his breath, ceased to breath altogether, his human features shifting into that of the demon, feral eyes glowing evilly in the low light provided by overhead lamps.

Spike, sensing the soldier’s scrutiny, looked at him and bared his fangs threateningly, daring the boy to betray them. Riley nodded his head that he understood and begin moving again. The others were deathly silent as they marched, single file through the last tunnel. Along each walls of the structure were cages and inside were all manner of demons in various stages of death.

Willow made a slight gasp at the atrocities she saw, and silent tears slipped down her face as she saw several demon children beaten and bloody, abandoned to die alone. She forced a sob back as she saw a small green-skinned demon crying and reaching through the bars to touch a larger demon with green skin and red horns that was all ready dead. She couldn’t believe the things she was seeing. This was just wrong. For the past four years she had thought that she had seen everything. They had helped Buffy slay and protect the Hellmouth, but this was wrong. These people weren’t protecting anybody by torturing demons. It was cruel and useless. She hurried to catch up to Giles, who wrapped his arm around her shoulders, allowing her to tuck her head against his chest so that she would no longer have to see the poor creatures.

Spike’s sensitive nose and ears were assaulted by the sounds and smells of the underground chamber. He growled in anger and disgust at the damage done to even peaceable demons. He stopped at the cage that held a floppy skinned demon whose skin was peeled away in some areas and burnt in others. Blood oozed from multiple incisions in the folds of skin and its ear was incised so that it folded over and exposed the insides. The demon was making whimpering noises in its abused throat and it turned liquid dog-like eyes on Spike. Spike choked in despair at the pain he could see reflected in the poor sod’s eyes. He turned at looked at Xander, whom had stopped as well.

“Spike,” Xander began looking at the vampire pleadingly. “Man, please, put it out of its misery, please…” he choked off tears falling unashamedly.

Spike nodded and grabbed a hold of the bars enclosing the demon. With a strong pull he ripped the door open and enter the cage. He looked at the demon for a moment, making sure that this is what it wanted. When it gave him a slight nod, he gripped it by head and twisted brutally, breaking its neck quickly and cleanly. He let it drop back to the floor and stepped back out where the others were waiting. He looked at Xander and a moment of understanding passed between them.

Riley couldn’t believe what he had seen. A vicious soulless demon had shown compassion for someone, something other then himself. It made Riley question everything he had been told about vampires and demons. It made him question who was the real monster, the vampire or the Professor. He shook off his musings and led the group to the hidden door, placing his eye at the panel for identification purposes. The light flashed green and the entryway opened. They silently entered the Intiative.

Once inside he stopped the group. “Here,” he instructed pointing to a row of lockers. “you’ll find clothes that will help you blend in a little better.” They quickly went about pulling on the black attire that made up the commandos patrol uniforms. “Spike, I want you to pretend that we captured you.”

“Wha’? I don’t think so mate!” The blond vampire snarled. “Like I’d trust you lot.”

“It’s the best way, man. We can carry you straight into the containment area this way. That’s where they will have put Buffy.” Riley argued.

The blond vampire was still shaking his head he opened his mouth to protest again, when Xander stepped forward.

“Spike, let’s do it, man. I promise as a Scooby, as one of Buffy’s best friends, that I won’t let them take you for real.” He hefted the AK-47, showing Spike exactly what he meant. “I love Buffy, and she loves you. I’m not thrilled with it, but I know she needs you, man. She deserves to have the man she loves, even if that man is a vampire.”

Willow stepped forward and placed her hand on his arm. “We promise, Spike.”

Spike looked at the Watcher, and Giles nodded his head. He sighed. “Right then, what do you want me to do?”

Chapter 11: Into the Initiative Part 2:

“Okay, does everyone understand what we’re going to do?” Gone was the easily intimidated young whelp and in his place was a soldier. Xander felt proud that they had entrusted him to the planning of the rescue. While Riley had actual military experience and he didn’t, Riley wasn’t trusted. “Let’s do this then.”

Riley hoisted Spike up on his shoulder in a fireman carry. “Gotta tell ya Cardboard, this is not nearly as exciting as it was when Buffy did it.” He smirked upside down. Even though he had really been unconscious when she had carried him home, he couldn’t resist aggravating the git.

“Shut up, Spike” Riley snarled.

Xander and Willow laughed at the disgruntled soldier, and Giles’ lips twitched curiously. Xander had the duffle with the explosives and Riley’s key card. As soon as the others were in the containment area, and had Buffy, he was going to place the explosives. Riley had supplied him with a schematic of the complex and they had marked where the explosives needed to be placed in order to bring it down. They had lucked out at the military base, and were able to “borrow” remote explosives. As soon as everyone in the group was out, he would push the button. That they would be killing people wasn’t taken into consideration. The Slayer had to be saved at all costs. It was the good of the world against a small group of soldiers and doctors. Riley had tried to make sure that Forrest and Graham were out of the complex he hoped that they were where they were supposed to be.

Riley would enter the lab area disable all the locks and grab all of the test results and notes taken on the Slayer. He would then plant a small, but powerful incendiary device with more then enough firepower to destroy both the lab and the doctors’ offices. The samples taken from Buffy wouldn’t be a problem when the lab blew. He felt some trepidation about what they were going to do, it was not enough however, to stop him from doing it.

Willow and Giles walked behind Riley imitating his walk and attitude. Willow had tucked her hair up under a cap and wore a bulky vest to hide that she wasn’t whom she pretended to be. They each had automatic machine guns and prayed that they would have no need to use them, as they could do nothing but aim and shoot if they had to. Xander brought up the rear, his duffle and gun slung over his shoulder.

The four, with Riley carrying Spike, strode through the doors and into the main containment area. They walked confidently and quickly as if they all had the right to be there, their black military issue, combat boots struck a staccato beat on the tiled flooring. As they passed by the cells, Spike sent out his senses to find the Slayer, discretely tapping the soldier when he knew they were near her. They passed by several lab technicians and the soldiers whom were on duty in the containment area.

“We caught the bastard that the girl saved the other night. This should earn me that promotion, don’t you think?” He smirked at the others and they laughed in agreement.

“Hell, yeah, Finn. Walsh sent out a call about 0800 regarding this particular vamp. Damn, man you are one lucky, son of bitch!”

Riley grinned at the soldiers and went on down the rows. He drew up short at the vampire’s signal and tossed the vampire roughly onto the floor. He kicked him in the ribs for good measure, and not a little spite. He had to give the vampire credit however, as he never moved or made a sound during Riley’s manhandling.

The others had a hard time concealing their surprise and horror when they saw their friend.

Spike heard the Witch’s small gasp and dared to open his eyes enough to see his mate. What he saw had him restraining his demon with everything that he had in him. Buffy lay curled in the corner of the small cell, her back against the wall, arms and legs drawn up protectively against her belly. He could tell that she was alive by the slow rise and fall of her chest beneath the thin hospital style gown. He couldn’t tell if she was awake or not, due to the fact that her eyes were swollen shut and discolored from a severe beating. Riley had warned them that they had punched her, but he had not idea it would be this bad. He could also see where she had multiple cuts and abrasions on her tender, exposed skin.

Xander, who could not see Buffy from where he was standing back near the other soldiers, reacted to the slight stiffening and low growl of the blond vampire. He quickly slammed the butt of his gun against the first man’s head bringing him down. The other soldier, seeing the swift movement, reached for his own weapon, but was stopped by Xander swinging the gun around and giving a sharp blow to the second soldier’s stomach, followed by an uppercut to his chin, rendering him unconscious as well.

Riley looked at the two lab techs, “If you want to live run. Run for the exit and don’t look back!” They must have believed the hard expression on his face, because they dropped their charts and ran for the closet exit. Satisfied that he had saved at least two people’s lives, Riley turned and punched his code into the small computer on the wall, the lock to Buffy’s containment cell clicked and a black blur was at her side before the door even swung open.

Riley turned to nod at Xander, but found the young man all ready gone. Willow and Giles stood ready with their weapons while Spike slipped off his duster and gently wrapped up the Slayer in it. He carefully picked her up and strode from the bare cell, murmuring nonsense words to the slowly awakening girl.

Buffy could barely open her eyes enough to see Spike, but she really didn’t need to see him to know he had her. She whimpered and snuggled in closer to his hard chest, taking comfort in the deep rumble of his voice. When he realized she was awake and aware of him, his words changed to a purr, the sound vibrating against her cheek where she lay against him, soothing her.

Riley again took up point, putting Spike and Buffy in the middle and then leaving Willow and Giles to follow behind. He stopped when they reached the door to the lab. “You guys, go on and get her out of here. I’m going to set the explosives in the lab and grab Buffy’s file.” He looked at the vampire and the small girl cradled in his arms. “I’ll make sure that Walsh won’t be able to do this again.”

Spike nodded. He had wanted to take care of the bitch himself, but his girl needed him. Even though, it didn’t sit well with him, he’d leave her to the soldier. “Finn,” he called out the soldier. Riley paused and turned back, looking at the vampire questioningly. “Make it hurt.”

Riley looked at Buffy’s bruised, bloody body and then at Spike. His eyes were hard as he nodded once to the vampire. ~ Riley slipped into the Initiative labs and quickly sealed all but the back exit. He gathered the samples that were taken from Buffy and set them along with the explosives in the center of the lab. He set the timer for five minutes and turned, gathering both paper and disk copies of Buffy’s reports. He paused when he saw the black and white image of Buffy’s baby. This, then, this little bit of cells, of flesh and blood, is what its all about, why its worth it. As he was turning to leave, Professor Walsh entered the lab, unaware of what was taking place in the complex.

“Captain, what are you doing in here?” She questioned, growing alarmed at the sight of the explosives in the middle of the floor. “What do you think you’re doing?”

Riley placed the sonogram with the other documents and slipped it inside his vest, zipping it up for safekeeping. “I’m doing what should have been done long ago. I thought this place was something that did worked for good; that protected the people. It’s not. You proved that by the things you did to an innocent girl and her unborn child.”

“What are you talking about? What have you done with the Slayer!?” Walsh was panicked at the thought of losing all the work she had invested that day, of losing what could be the strongest warrior ever.

“Buffy’s gone, and soon this place will be reduced to a pile of rubble…but first,” he stepped forward, “this is for Buffy and Spike.” His arm shot out, plowing his large fist into the small woman’s face. Blood sprayed from her nose as it shattered and she slumped to the floor beside of the bomb.

Riley hit the timer and the countdown began, he never looked back.

Spike led the others back out through the tunnels. Just as they cleared the tunnel and exited onto the street, Xander and Riley came running, Xander clutching the remote and Riley carrying a file folder. Xander flew up the ladder and turned pulling Riley up after him. Xander looked at the others and pressed the remote. The series of underground explosions rumbled through the town and caused it to tremble, dust rolled up from the open manhole cover and the group stepped back, waving and fanning their faces. Spike sheltered Buffy inside his coat as the dust settled and the tremors stopped. He looked at the others.

“Appreciate it, mates.” He stated seriously. “I’m gonna take my girl home, get her cleaned up a bit, get some sleep. We’ll see you lot in the morning.” He didn’t wait for a response, just nodded at the Watcher and stalked off down the street towards Revello Drive.

“Come along, Xander, Willow, I’ll give you a ride home. Riley, I’ll trust that you’ll see that things are taken care of?” The Scoobies piled in Giles’ car and left.

Riley looked at the fading taillights for a moment before turning and heading back towards Lowell House. He’d contact the Army in the morning and make sure that the Initiative was gone for good. The government would leave the hellmouth and its problems to the Slayer and her vampire.
